Gubba’s Germplasm Bank is the first ever germplasm bank in private sector not just in Telangana but, in India. Here Germplasm can be stored by seed companies from 5 to 40 years.
This facility provides world class preservation and security standards for the most valuable Germplasm seeds. On the same note this facility is an outcome of the standards which matches the HACCP, OHSAS certifications.
Importance of a GermPlasm Bank
Germplasm Banks play a crucial role in the conservation and use of Biodiversity. They are important institutions, not just for the preservation of germplasm but also for its sustainable use. Germplasm banks are also expected to generate and provide new scientific knowledge and information on Ecosystems, species and genes. The conservation of plant genetic resources (PGR’S) is not limited to attaining and physically processing the materials but also includes ensuring the existences of them under variable conditions and with their original genetical characteristics intact. This is achieved by controlling storage conditions. This is when Gubba comes into the picture.
About Gubba’s Germplasm Bank
Gubba’s Germplasm Bank is an outcome of 6 years of intense and committed research by GUBBA. We at Gubba felt the need for a Germplasm bank for the Indian seed industry. Gubba along with the technological support from ICRISAT have further researched for 2 years and made this idea a reality for the seed industry.
