Fork Lift

• Designed in collaboration with Italian technology

80% less Impact on Seed : as the seed is palletized and handled by MHEs, the physical impact on Seed is reduced by 80-100%. As seed is life, the lesser impact on seed, the longer is the life of seed. For example, soya been seed bag if dropped from height of 10 feet, there would be a drop in the germination by 5%. With the emergence of single cross hybrids the seeds are getting delicate. Sampling : Every pallet can accommodate 1.5 tons of seeds. Stack size is small and in the pallet every bag is accessible without unpalletising it. This makes sampling fast and convenient. Moreover NO impact on seed also.

Design & Technology

Every spare inch of the Cold Store has been meticulously designed and planned for a specific purpose, maximizing technology and innovation to serve the purpose to the fullest. Click here to get a glimpse of our many detailed processes and infrastructure

Light : the amount of light in the cold store has been calculated. 200 lugs of light is ideal for smooth operations

Flooring : 200 mm of CC flooring. Flooring is m20 grade and vacuum dewaterised this is to ensure smooth flow of operations

Racks: different kinds of racks have been researched. Static single deep, static double deep Drive-in, push back., motorized, ASRS, flow track.. for the seed industry double deep racking is ideal.

Colors : color of the wall panels from outside are white. White panels minimize the heat load on the walls. White panels inside the cold room ensure more light inside the cold room. The uprights and the load beams have contrasting colors - oxford blue and bright orange to ensure easy visibility to the fork lift operator.

Tubular Structure: less dust accumulates on tubular structure than a boxy structure.

Doors: as the number of doors increase, the flow of operations is faster and the heat& moisture load increase. Vis-à-vis, as the number of doors reduces, the flow of operations slow down and the heat load increase. Hence, equilibrium has to be maintained for the two.

Cross Aisles: only one cross aisle has been designed such that flow of operations is maintained and thus faster delivery of your stock.

Air Flow: ducting is critical in a cold store. However they also consume a lot of cold store space. Hence the duct has been placed on the gabel side of the cold room so that your valuable cold store space is not eaten up.

Placement of Equipment: same as the ducting evaporators (fan coil units) eat cold store space. Hence they also have been designed to be in the gabel of the cold room. Cold air being heavy tends to move down. Hence the evaporators have been placed on the top side of the cold room.

Height of the Cold Room. : The more the cold room is of the shape of a cube the lesser is the heat load on the cold room. Also considering the windloads, fork lift operations, safety, the dimensions of the cold room has been designed.

Pallet : there are different types of pallets. Reversible, non-reversible, 2 side entry, 4 side entry pallets. At Gubba, 4 side entry non-reversible pallets have been designed for maximum benefit. Non-reversible pallet because the pallets are not block-stacked. 4 side entry pallet helps in operations. Thus faster loading and unloading of your stock.

Density of stock: the basic context while designing the cold storage was to put maximum seed in the given space. The following factors contributed to the ‘Density' of stock.

Pallet size: for every pallet there is a fixed amount of space wastage. By increasing the pallet size from 1 ton to 1.5 ton that space wastage has been minimized.

VNAs: Very Narrow Aisles. Aisle is the way in which the fork lift moves. Internationally the aisle widths are 3500mm(pallet to pallet). We have designed the cold store in accordance with the fork lift in such a way that only 2500mm(pallet to pallet) of space has been allocated for the fork lift.

Fork lift: We have chosen the ‘Articulated' fork lift to work in VNAs. Moreover we got to design a fork-extendable fork lift so as to accommodate 4 rows of racks for every aisle.(common practice is to have 2 rows of racks for every aisle). This has increased the density by 60%

Double deep racking: as explained above, with the double deep racking the number of aisles have been reduced. Thus contributing to the density of the stock.

Stock upto the brim: every cubic inch of space has been used. The filled pallet on the eve side of the cold store almost touches the roof structure.

Safety Standards

Lights: 200 lugs of light for safe working operations.

Racks: the uprights of the racks are 8-bend pot type. This ensures that the rack does not tilt.the beam also is an 8-bend box structure. This would make the beam strong enough to hold on to the heavy load of the seed.. Swl of beams

Color of beams & uprights: the colors of the beams & uprights have been chosen as per the international standards, oxford blue and bright orange respectively. This would be clearly visible to the fork lift operator and thus avoid accidents.

Fire alarm system

Fork Lift safety aspects Cameras, anti-trippers, anti sudden brakes , Automatic reduction of Traction speed, Anti roll back, Hill Hold(On gradient the equipment stops on its place on release of accelerator for 10 seconds.) ensure 100% safety
